Century Pacific Food, Inc. (PSE: CNPF), one of the Philippines’ leading food companies, was recognized for “Best ESG” in the Philippines in Institutional Investor’s All-Asia Executive Team 2020 rankings.

Two companies under the Century Pacific Group (CPG) are now officially “plastic-neutral”, fulfilling a goal set in 2019 to help manage its post-consumer waste.

Both Century Pacific Food (CNPF) and Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures (PIZZA) have marked their first year of being “100 percent plastic-neutral” last January 2020, following a push in 2019 to be “plastic-neutral” by 2020.

It’s the long-running joke about family-owned and managed corporations among wealth managers: The first generation makes it, the second generation spends it while the third generation blows it.

Companies like the SM Group, Century Pacific Food Inc., Lucio Tan Group and Bounty Fresh Food Inc., however, are determined to not be a punch line in Philippine corporate history.

The companies, Century Pacific Food (CNPF) and Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures (PIZZA), alongside Republic Cement, have agreed to co-process post-consumer plastic waste, converting these to energy as an alternative fuel in producing cement.

A memorandum of agreement was signed by Mr Ricardo S Po, Chairman Emeritus, Century Pacific Group-RSPO Foundation Inc*, and Father President Jose Ramon T Villarin SJ, Ateneo de Manila University, to establish the Ricardo S Po Professorial Chair for Excellence in Business, an endowment for faculty development in the Ateneo de Manila University, starting in School Year 2018-2019.

Century Tuna, the country’s number one tuna, recently led the inauguration of the first-ever Kidzania Marine Conservation Lab at Kidzania Manila, the indoor play city where kids can have fun exploring the adult world through inspiration and learning. The new facility was established by the leading tuna brand in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines.

KAIN Po, the flagship feeding program of the Century Pacific Group – RSPo Foundation, marked the delivery of its 15 millionth meal in a joint event with Move.Org Foundation. During the event held last month, students from the MovEd Pre School in Pasig City welcomed CPG-RSP founder Ricardo S. Po, members of his family, and guests as they celebrated KAIN Po’s major milestone.

The simplest ways of catching tuna are often the most sustainable. Environmental solutions provider World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has renewed ties with Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CNPF), the Philippines’ largest canned food company, to promote artisanal tuna handline fishing in the Davao Gulf.
