unMEAT, the pioneering 100% plant-based meat alternative brand of Century Pacific Food, Inc. (PSE:CNPF), one of the leading branded food and beverage companies in the Philippines, has garnered international recognition after securing multiple awards across major global platforms.

Plant-based World Expo at the Europe Plant-Based Taste Awards 2023
unMEAT received recognition at the Europe Plant-Based Taste Awards 2023, held at the Plant-based World Expo in London.

The awards celebrate flavor and innovation across the plant-based food and drink industry, with this year’s categories covering products ranging from meat alternatives to convenience and confectionery.

unMEAT secured top honors in two categories: “Plant-Based Breakfast Product: WINNER – unMEAT Plant-Based Luncheon Meat Hot & Spicy” and “Plant-Based Convenience/On-the-Go Product: WINNER – unMEAT Meat-Free Chili with Beans”.

Additionally, unMEAT earned commendations in the highly competitive Plant-Based Chicken category: “unMEAT Meat-Free Roast Beef-Style” and “unMEAT Meat-Free Chicken-Style Chunks”.

CNPF Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Greg Banzon, has been leading the charge in unMEAT’s international program.

“The entry of Century Pacific into the plant-based category highlights the company’s commitment to affordable and sustainable proteins. We believe innovation is a critical component in unlocking the category’s potential and are grateful to see that our latest string of new products is well-received among retailers and consumers alike,” shared Banzon.

APAC Triumphs: Unveiling Excellence in Export
unMEAT clinched the Philippines Excellence Award – Food category at The Asian Export Awards 2023. Open to exporters across the Asia Pacific region, this award highlights unMEAT’s commitment to export excellence.

Since 2021, CNPF has been expanding the presence of its plant-based offerings in international shores as part of the group’s endeavor to democratize the plant-based alternatives category. unMEAT is now available in approximately 1,800 Walmart stores, where it recently expanded its shelf-stable range, alongside close to 2,000 Albertson’s stores in the US. It has also entered the Australian market through 900 Woolworths stores earlier this year. Its international footprint includes retailers such as Harris Teeter, HEB, Meijer in the US, Carrefour in the UAE, and FairPrice and Cold Storage in Singapore.

Furthermore, the brand was honored with the “Product Launch of the Year – Philippines” title at the 2023 FMCG Awards. This accolade celebrates innovation and excellence among the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Market.

Faye Matriano, unMEAT’s Global Marketing Director said that “As we’re in the protein delivery business, the recognition we have received for Century Pacific Food’s unMEAT further solidifies the global footprint established by a local Filipino company.”

“The market for plant-based food alternatives in the Philippines is still nascent, but we believe in its long-term potential, and our continuous innovations will help further bring down barriers to the segment in terms of taste, affordability, and variety.” adds Matriano.

Introduced back in 2020 as a response to the growing consumer demand for healthier, more plant-forward food options, unMEAT began with an institutional roll-out in Shakey’s Pizza, and eventually in 7-Eleven, among others.

The brand has since entered key international markets, such as the UAE, United States, China, Singapore, Australia, and parts of Europe.
